Community Engagement to Support Coalition Building and Advocacy

BikeWalkKC, a nonprofit organization in Kansas City, Missouri, received a grant to develop a Transportation for All Coalition in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The goal of the coalition was to understand and build support for transportation needs, especially among the most vulnerable members of our community.

PorchLight Insights developed and implemented a community engagement plan to support the Transportation for All Coalition. Engagement efforts included a community survey with specific outreach to vulnerable members of the community, an organizational survey, and several facilitated listening sessions. PorchLight Insights also gathered and analyzed existing data sources to understand transportation needs in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Feedback was synthesized to identify key insights, which were included in the Transportation for All Coalition Report.
