Community Survey Development, Analysis, and Insights
PorchLight Insights worked with the City of Westwood, Kansas, to create a custom resident survey and business survey, which were administered in collaboration with ETC Institute. The process began with a council workshop facilitated by PorchLight Insights to identify focus areas for the survey instrument. We then developed the survey instrument to include questions that were aligned with the priority topics identified through stakeholder feedback. PorchLight Insights then performed in-depth analysis of the survey results to identify key insights in the data. We presented our findings to the Westwood City Council in August 2024.
Governing Body Strategic Plan and Performance Measures
PorchLight Insights then guided the Westwood City Council through the creation of a Strategic Plan using insights from the community surveys. The strategic plan flowed naturally from the survey work, as the survey allowed Council to have a clearer view into the needs and wants of Westwood residents and businesses. We facilitated a second council workshop to craft a strategic plan. PorchLight Insights worked with Council and City administrators to craft Vision and Mission statements and goals and strategies. Each goal area was assigned a set of performance measures with achievable end-of-plan targets that will be monitored by staff as the plan strategies are implemented. The strategic plan was adopted by City Council in December 2024.
